Literally Falling Apart

Meaning and visual impact:

This work presents a series of square objects that on each successive level they deteriorate a bit until almost nothing is left. Perhaps a visual commentary on modern life? The flowing channels imply a wind or a river flowing strongly and causing the solid structures to literally fall apart.

Technical aspects:

This work is actually not finished and the colours shown are the base primer colours, not the final colours. There is no paint on the work as yet. The work was started by first sculpting the squares using my proprietary concoction that dries into a rock like substance. This was done after a background of deep channels was cut into the substrate composed of another material. After that I filled the deep channels with thick oil glaze medium and waited several months until it was dry. The stage the work is at now is that the final oil paint process can begin. What you see in the photo is actually the primed and prepared canvas ready to have colour applied.
