Meaning and visual impact:

This painting represents the morning view from a boat as you approach Venice or “Venezia” from the Adriatic Sea. The painting tries to capture the normally foggy seas and the various islands of Venice starting to appear on the horizon.

The sky is hazy and almost indistinguishable from the sea fog but appears to be slowly burning off as the Italian sun begins another searing day.

Technical aspects:

Classical oil painting technique with some fancy knife work to create the islands on the horizon.
