Meaning and visual impact:

This is a dramatic and beautiful work which depicts an abstract landscape. The theme is a rough landscape, perhaps fields or arid land against darkening stormy skies. Between the land and sky are distant mountains. The painting is heavily textured and has a real three dimensional image. The painting has a dark brooding feel yet really stands out when hung on either dark or white walls.

Technical aspects:

This work makes use of my custom brews of heavy pastes infused with fine sand to achieve the textures. Oil paint was then applied with glaze medium in many layers to build up the colour tones. The painting is heavy and needs to be hung in a secure way. As is it a 2 cm frame depth it would also work well with a frame.
