Meaning and visual impact:

This work is all about form, motion, texture and colour. There is an undercurrent of motion beneath the surface that is revealed as pieces are swept away. The colours are blends of shades of rich reds transitioning to natural browns.

Technical aspects:

Two different layers of fine sand, glue and acrylic gel were used to mold the surface. The material was carved out with palette knives. Afterwards oil paint was applied in many coats of glaze to build up to the final colour and then clear glaze as a final step to add depth and brilliance.
