Meaning and visual impact:

This painting is a Swiss landscape view or “Schweizer Ausblick”. The view is looking over the farmers fields and wineyards on the Lake of Zürich. Beyond the lake one can faintly see alps shrouded in clouds far in the background . Obscuring the view in the foreground are a few trees. Above you can see the a late summer sky with some harmless clouds. Overall a nice day!

The view is on purpose meant to look a bit blurry as if the viewer has squinted their eyes in the bright sun. There are lots of realistic paintings of the stunning Swiss landscapes so I wanted make a different statement with this painting. This work looks great and fits with any interior decor. As the dimensions are not imposing you can hang it anywhere in a home or office.

Technical aspects:

I used a classic wet on wet painting style for this one. That means the whole painting was done while all the paint was still wet. In practice this means that all the paints will blend together when brushed. The technique is all important as you want to preserve certain images and colour fields and not have everything merge into one big puddle of paint. Careful use of a variety of artist brushes is key to get this technique to work.
