Meaning and visual impact:

Big brother is watching you! The visual impact is of the painting looking right back at you. I got the idea from an old King Crimson album cover from the 1970`s. There is substantial depth to the work due to the technique used. Despite the small canvas size it really has a big visual impact. Due to the small canvas dimension, yet double wide 4 cm width, it can easily stand upright and balanced on any mantle or shelf.

Technical aspects:

This work entailed drawing and painting the eye image and then burying it under multiple layers of clear medium and acrylic gel. This gives the painting a lot of depth and enhances the feeling of the eye looking at you. Also, because of the depth of the image one gets a strong off axis image as well. This means that as you move around the work the optical effect is that eye seems to be following you.
