Meaning and visual impact:

This work is a pure abstraction revelling in the unnerving juxtaposition of amorphous forms. The visual impact has a focus on the unusual form and structure as well as the unique use of brilliant and flat colours and tones.

Technical aspects:

The frame is narrow at 2 cm so it is easily hung and not so heavy despite the use of glue and sand to create the textural effects. Also, many layers of glaze medium and thin paint were use to create depth in the work. A major focus was on achieving vivid contrasts between the use of brilliant oil colours and flat acrylic paint colours. Due to the textural effects, I used my sculptor´s knives as much as the paint brushes on this one.
